Delonghi Space Heaters
Most of the common heating technologies in use today are represented by Delonghi space heaters. They manufacture Delonghi electric space heaters, a Delonghi space radiator heater, sealed-oil heaters and forced air heaters.
The least expensive (and least efficient) Delonghi space heater is the forced air heater. In this type of heater, voltage is passed through a series of metal coils. The resistance of the coils causes them to become hot. An electric fan blows air over the coils and out into the room. The air is heated by the coils and so that air which blows out into the room. These types of heaters are inexpensive to purchase, but expensive to operate. They create a noise as they operate (the fan) but are popular because they blow hot air right away and heat a room very quickly.
Sealed oil heaters are at the other range of the efficiency spectrum. A sealed oil heater is a long sealed tube with attached radiator fins. The tube contains oil and a heating element. When it is switched on, the heating element gradually heats the oil in the tube, and the attached fins act as a reverse heat sink and radiate the heat out into the room. This type of heater is very efficient and makes no noise. However, it heats the room very slowly. The Delonghi TRD0715T, TRH0715 and TRD0715T are all oil filled heaters and are available for $50 to $75 dollars.
Radiator heaters generally cost a little more than the oil filled heaters, but they are the best option in most situations. A radiator heater contains a large mica or ceramic panel that is enclosed in a case with a vent at the bottom and the top. As the panel heats up, warmth rises from it. This draws air in through the slot at the bottom of the case. The air passes over the panel, warming it, causing it to rise even faster and exit through the vent in the top. The end result is circulating warm air, with no fan motor noise. These types of heaters warm a room more quickly than a sealed oil heater because of the air circulation. They are equally as efficient and quiet as oil filled heaters. Delonghi sells several models of radiator panel heaters in the $100 range.
The type of space heater you should buy depends upon your particular needs. You may be more interested in rapidly heating a room than on the cost of operation. Size may be an issue and you may need to purchase a unit that you can easily carry around with you, or you may need to purchase a model that is long and low to the floor rather than tall and narrow. Whatever your needs, Delonghi has models available in all styles and sizes, and you are sure to find what you are looking for.
